Thierry GFELLER

Piano

Italian-Swiss pianist, I began my professional piano studies at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris in the classes of Krassimir Stoytchev and Jean Micault. There I obtained the "Diplôme d'Enseignement" for piano by unanimous decision of the jury. Afterwards, I perfected my skills at the Conservatoire G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, at the CNR in Rueil-Malmaison and at the HEM in Geneva where I completed my training with studies in harmony, counterpoint and fugue.

In Geneva, I have performed in concerts as a soloist or with opera singers at the Salle Franck Martin, Théâtre de l'Athénée, Auditoire Calvin, Paroisse Gourgas, Maison des Arts de Plan-les- Ouates, Société de Lecture, Salle Desprès, and Fondation l'Abri.

I have written arrangements in a personal style mixing classical, jazz and popular influences, some of which are published on my youtube channel "Thierry Pierandrei":

In another register, I have occasionally worked as an organist in various parishes and churches in the Canton of Geneva.

Parallel to these activities, my vocation soon led me to teaching, to which I devoted myself mainly in private lessons but also in the framework of the International Music School in Paris, the Maison des Arts et de la Culture in Plan-les-Ouates, the International School of Geneva and now at the Maison de la Musique in Divonne. I have also had the opportunity to accompany classical dance and singing classes in the network of municipal conservatories of the City of Paris and more recently at the CPMDT in Geneva. Finally, in a repertoire of light music, I animated the piano bar of the Novotel Montfleury in Cannes.

My teaching goal is to make my students as autonomous as possible so that they have the desire and the ability to continue to progress on their own. I give them both a classical technical base by teaching them to decipher and interpret a score, but also practical ideas in order to know how to place chords in order to accompany a simple melody.

Since 2017, I hold a Master's degree in Education Sciences from the University of Geneva and am the author of a thesis gaining the French State Diploma of Piano Teaching.
