Sylvie studied at the Geneva Conservatory from 1983 to 1993, where she obtained a diploma in pedagogy of musical initiation. From 1983 to 2001: She studied jazz in workshops at the A.M.R. (Association for Improvised Music in Geneva). She also studied guitar with Jean-François Mathieu, Claude Buri and Vinz Vonlanthen, and arrangement and composition with Claude Buri, Christian Gavillet (at the Montreux Conservatory) and Erich Lauer (at the Geneva Conservatory). Sylvie graduated from the AMR- CPMDT jazz school in 2001.

From 1989 to 2001 Sylvie participated in numerous workshops in Switzerland, led by internationally renowned musicians: Mick Goodrik, Joe Diorio, Jack Dejohnette, Richie Beirach, Dave Liebman, Jim Hall, Pat Metheny and Laurent Cugny. and in Italy (Mister Jazz in Ravenna in 1989-90-91) and Germany (Berklee in Germany in 1993).

Sylvie taught guitar and led workshops at the Espace de Pratique Instrumentale in Carouge from 1993 to 2004, at the Conservatoire de l'Ouest Vaudois in Nyon from 1993 to 2000, and at the MMD in Divonne-les Bains from 2001 to 2007. Since 2003, she has been teaching at the International School of Geneva. Since 2019, she has been teaching at the APCJM in Meyrin and at the MMD.

Sylvie has also been a substitute teacher at the Conservatoire populaire de musique, danse et théâtre since 2017.

As a composer and arranger, she participates as a guitarist and bassist in various formations, performing in Switzerland and Europe, with the groups Alondra, Udu, the Sylvie Canet trio (Brooks Giger or Denis Favrichon double bass and Rodolphe Loubatière drums).
